WALT: Haka 

There once was a man named Te Rauparaha. He was a strong and brave warrior who was a chief. He also had enemies he had all so needed some fighters to help him survive in battles.But no matter where he had seemed to go they were after him so he ran somewhere he hoped no one would find him. 

Te Rauparaha had ran to a place he had never heard before he ran to  Lake Rotoaira he said “You will get protection here” he told Te Rauparaha he  had then said again “Go to the potato pit”said te Whareranri when he went into the potato pit entrance it was dark and there was someone guiding the entrance. It was dark and there was some guiding the entrance of the potato pit. Her name is Te Rangi Koaea she is the one guiding the potato where Te Rauparaha’s enemies would never think to look in a potato pit or ask such an important woman. Then suddenly Te Rauparaha had heard voices coming from above him he had then said to himself will I die? Will I live?. Te Rauparaha emerged from the potato pit then he had seen light once more so he went to tell his tribe his story. That went to their children, their children and many more children and then came to us.
